Kids Voting 2008 Competitions

We held two competitions for Kids Voting in 2008.

The first was for teachers.  Many of you used Kids Voting as part of a wider programme for student learning.  We wanted to reward the best of this teaching.   Nominations were welcome for any teaching (unit or lesson) delivered in 2008 which was presented in association with Kids Voting.

The second competition was for students.  We wanted to encourage students to use their creativity to make a short visual presentation or video clip (under two minutes) that shows other young people that voting is easy and can make a difference, and encourages young people to take part.

The winners were:

Teachers' competition winner - Chris Coomes from Papatoetoe Intermediate School who won $1000.

Students' competition winners - Maddy Boyd and Kimberley Oosterbeek from Alfriston College who each won $250.

Maddy and Kimberley made a short video about Kids Voting. You can watch their video on YouTube: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-CvOMf7xXHY.
